Cooking for One
Cooking for One is a 6-week, hands-on cooking class for individuals who primarily cook for themselves and are looking to develop a variety of skills in the kitchen.
We’ll cover a variety of topics such as meal planning, managing food waste, how to read and scale a recipe, budget at the grocery store, and choose (and use!) appropriate kitchen equipment. We will also learn about and practice basic to intermediate kitchen technical skills: from different dices and knife skills to the difference between roasting, sauteing, blanching, and steaming foods, etc.
Each week, we will cover a topic or two, then meet in the kitchen for a hands-on class that involves preparing and cooking a meal as a group. We will then sit down and enjoy our meal together and share a time of devotion and discussion.

The $30 introductory class fee covers all costs of the class- just bring yourself! Individual kitchen stations will be set up and all ingredients for each class are provided weekly. A sample meal plan, with recipes and the associated grocery list, will be curated for each of the six classes.
We hope you join us for this fun, creative experience as we explore food, fellowship and faith together! Scholarships are available; for more information, please reach out to class instructor Kelsey Webb at kwebb@beocc.org
